What it is. Epic ("crypto's travel layer") is a booking front-end for 2M+ hotels and flights that accepts 200+ cryptocurrencies, Monero among them, advertising savings of up to ~30% versus mainstream portals. You pick a hotel or flight and pay in crypto; Epic books it with the travel provider.

Read this first — payment privacy, not travel anonymity. Paying in XMR keeps the *payment* off a card statement, but it does not make the travel anonymous: airlines require passport-matching passenger names, and hotels require ID at check-in. The privacy win is narrow and real — your bank never sees the booking — but your identity still reaches the airline and hotel exactly as with any other booking. Treat this as a way to *spend* XMR, not to travel unseen.

What to weigh. Epic is custodial at the moment of payment — you send crypto, they pay the provider. The site is a mainstream commercial property: it loads Google Tag Manager and sets cookies, so it's tracker-heavy by this shelf's standards. It does publish Terms, Privacy, and Cookie policies, and the domain has been live since about January 2025 (~19 months). Whether XMR settles directly or is auto-converted by a payment processor at checkout isn't stated up front — worth confirming on the payment screen before you commit.

Useful when. You hold XMR and want to book real travel with it without routing through a card, and you accept that the airline and hotel will still know who you are. For the payment leg it's genuinely useful — just don't mistake it for anonymous travel.
