Heroes
Open-source projects, public datasets, and ecosystem actors this directory would not exist without. No paid placements, no quid pro quo — these are the people the curator team owes a beer.
Privacy + crypto upstream
- The Monero core team — the protocol that makes the rest of this directory meaningful. getmonero.org.
- Tor Project — the network layer behind onion mirrors + the hardened browser we recommend. torproject.org.
- I2P — the second network layer for hidden services, common in the Monero remote-node ecosystem. geti2p.net.
- kycnot.me — closest peer directory, generous with cross-reference signals.
- Monerica — broader ecosystem mapping, fewer grades, useful complement.
- PrivacyGuides — adjacent reference list, especially on non-crypto privacy tools.
- Cake / Monerujo / Feather maintainers — the wallets we test against. Three design philosophies; all defended.
- Bisq + Haveno contributors — P2P fiat ↔ crypto that survives KYC pressure. Both took recent hits; both rebuilding in public.
- Researchers behind FROST / FCMP++ — Pushing the crypto floor higher. We track + write up what they ship.
Full peer-directory recommendations + how to use them: see /peers.
Infrastructure
- Cloudflare Workers + D1 — runtime + database. Edge caching, content rules, all of it. The free tier + edge cache are how we keep the site no-paywall and Tor-fast.
- Astro + React — SSR-first renderer with React islands. Replaces the original Vite + React SPA bundle (v1 worker).
- cloakbrowser — Playwright-based onion-probe harness that survives Tor + CF challenge pages.
- monero.fail — public Monero node directory cross-referenced for the extended /nodes listings.
Datasets we consume
- Operator-published Onion-Location headers — daily probed for the onion audit.
- Reproducible-build attestations — referenced in verify-wallet-binary.
- Per-provider privacy policies + audits — read end-to-end before each grade.
